A Novel Framework for Cloud Energy Metering System (CEMS) in Solar PV Plant

The smart grid initiative with emphasis on Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) has attracted attention to various individuals and governments in the energy industry. This research proposes a Cloud Energy Metering System (CEMS) based on a precision metering IC (ADE7756) and PIC embedded controller (PIC 16F887) with an RF communication link. This will communicate with a location based Enterprise Energy Tracking Analytic Cloud Portal, (EETACP). In this paper, we showed the high level conceptual architecture for tracking power generation from PV solar system for real-time energy metering. The objective function is to help clients (location users) maximize energy and operational savings. We simplify the overall energy management ideology via our framework. The results of the implementation will be shown in our future work for both the system hardware and software. However, this will provide an end-to-end solution from measurement to billing on the cloud thereby improving quality of power measurement information, conserve energy and reduce costs at large. In the finally analysis, the metering system will measure key historical data for current user consumption data up to the last granular interval, hourly, daily, and monthly or yearly as well as historical data both in tabular and graphical forms thus providing greater visibility and control of energy consumption, this research recommends this system to all the developing nations owing its wide range functionalities and cost effectiveness.
